Curly

Everyone says Emma looks like Owen and Owen looks like John. Where does that leave me? Well I think she might have natural curl which maybe was inherited from me. Although John does have a bit of a wave too but we'll say its from me. Its always been curly after her bath but lately the curls are staying more and more. Today she had quite the curls going on top of her head!

This guy picked me flowers this morning! its cute and I treasure his giving me flowers but sometimes I'd rather they stay in the ground- alive.. :)

Spring, Renos & Steps

Its Spring. Right? Supposedly... although currently its snowing outside... again...
I think Owen is looking forward to Spring, he probably remembers last year playing outside on the deck at this time of year. So for the past few days he has been lining his toys up outside the patio door. He says they are ready for blast-off. Blasting the snow away? We wish...
I love his imagination!
The poor cowboy in his loin cloth, apparently Owen felt sorry for him too because that was the one that got to come in for the night....

I love boys. I'm not used to boys, grew up with 3 sisters. But I'm learning about them and I love Owen's imagination. This morning he made a sword out of mega blocks. Where does he learn about this stuff?

We are renovating our kitchen! So excited its been a long time coming. Our cabinets are ordered and should be in within the next week. We are currently prepping and ripping down our old ones, installing new lights, painting. I love my red walls but I decided I should go more neutral since we are hoping to sell one day. As you can see its hard to work with two kiddos around...

Guess who took her first steps yesterday? Miss Emma!

And today she turned 10 months!

a visit

We spent a few days at my parents this week because of March break. All the sisters were supposed to gather with our kids there but we got a snow storm so it was just Carrie and I with our kids for 2 days (we planned on sleeping over whereas the others were just coming for the day). We had a nice time together!
\
first time in a swing! (poor Emma most of her life has been through this brutal winter!)

Tuesday was beautiful out and we spent some time outside. Then Wednesday came and another snowstorm hit. When will this winter end?

9 months!

Is this winter ever going to end? We still get snow at least once a week and it makes for a long winter! I can only dream of spring and going for walks and visits to the park with the kids!
Otherwise we've spent a lot of time indoors lately. Two weekends ago we were all home bound and sick with nasty colds and fevers. There are still a few lingering runny noses and coughs but otherwise we are back to normal.

This is her new smile, face all scrunched and giving it all she has

watching Owen play outside in the snow

One project I did this past week is make a reading nook in the playroom. We love to sit and look at books and its nice to have a comfy spot to do it! I had some foam pieces that I layered and covered with a crib sheet and then threw a bunch of pillows on it. Its super comfy and I think you will even find me there from time to time...

I love to switch things up so I took down the safari decals in the play room and put up the forest creatures that used to be in Owen's baby room. I'm always trying to think of new things for their playroom and love decorating it and doing new projects. I made the bookshelf from an old crate (cut in half) and painted it a bright yellow. I'm working on redoing an old trunk for their play clothes. Keeps me busy on those cold winter days I don't want to step foot outside.

eight months

Eight months with this little girl! She is always full of smiles for us but has a shy trait around others and will rarely smile for someone else. I was really shy as a kid so I am not surprised she gets that from me.

just hanging around

I'm mainly putting these pictures up because every time I go on my blog to look at the blogs I follow, I see the Christmas pictures I posted a month ago- which really Christmas seems like so long ago so its kind of driving me crazy to keep looking at those pictures. So here are some new ones. Just of the kiddos from around the house....
 playing with dishes...
in the playpen, normally she hates it but we've been working on training her....

she stays calm as long as she can see Owen

I love seeing this kid's imagination come out. He loves to dress up and find things to play with- things that aren't typically toys. Here he got into John's hockey equipment. He is wearing elbow pads on his legs, Emma's socks, John's helmet.
And since he was all geared up of course I had to play hockey ball with him his favourite activity.
