My Blue Project

So every week in Woodstock we have a large item pickup, one section in town has a turn each month. A few months ago John and I were driving on our way home and this chair on the side of the road caught my eye. So John ran out and threw it in the back of the car for me. What was I going to do with this chair? Not sure if you can tell in the picture but its a small rocking chair, yes I can fit in it but its best for a child. So Owen here you go! Since he LOVES to read I thought it would be cute for his future boy room.

It didn't have a seat, hence the reason it was by the road probably, but that is an easy fix!
First step was to sand it down really good, fill in the many holes, and pick a colour.
What better colour for a boy than... BLUE!
At first I was going to paint it but I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money on a can of paint, even a small can is not cheap, and I only needed a little bit of paint. John suggested, spray painting it. I thought he was crazy but I found this bright blue colour so I picked up a can and away we went, it worked great!!

I even got a little on the deck... :) I told John it wasn't my fault, it was windy and the newspaper kept blowing away- that was true!
I just LOVE how the bright blue turned out, sooo bright and fun.

Next a trip to Len's Mill Store- my favourite place- to pick out some fabric for the cushion. Of course I passed by this adorable alphabet print and decided to make a throw pillow for it as well! I settled on blue for the seat cushion too, sticking with the BLUE theme!

Owen on his chair, in his pj's (don't u love kids in pj's!), with his two favourite stuffies- mr and mrs giraffe and his favourite Curious George book. Of course he wouldnt' sit still for a picture and it took him holding my lens cap to get a decent picture, he is about to jump off the chair here... oh the things I could do if he would sit still for a picture :) He loves his new chair so that is all that matters.

Next project... redoing a dresser for him... still trying to decide what colour to paint it!

  1. Looks great! I've never used spray paint but I have a friend who is addicted to the stuff :) she spray paints everything in her house that she thinks needs some sprucing up.
